I've long heard about imitation being the highest form of flattery but sometimes enough is just enough. Too much of something is bad enough. Don't try to live another person's life--you have your own. Learn to accept and take control. In the end, you'll realize that the only person you're fooling is yourself. And regret? Oh, regret is just terribly fated sometimes.
Got that? Good. Now, wake up. None of this is a fairytale. Even if it were, happy endings are put in the end for a reason. Figure that out along the way. Think about it:
Ariel didn't end up with Prince Eric without an Ursulan fight. Snow White didn't end up with the prince without chewing on a poisoned apple upon meeting the dwarfs. Cinderella didn't become a princess without being some maid. Aurora didn't become the sleeping beauty without, well, having too much of a power power power nap. Belle didn't become beauty if not for a beast. And Jasmin didn't end up with Aladdin at the exact time she found out he was some riffraff or streetrat.
In reality, it's some sort of prolonged conflict we often misunderstand as something inconceivably unfortunate. What we fail to realize is the irony of the entirety of this story. It takes a chapter at a time. You take one out, and you can't move forward. There is this thing we call time, so abstract all we could do is go with it. Misfortunes are there for a reason. You have that chance to influence others and make a difference, but live your own life. You've yet to discover your purpose.
Just really, stop flattering me. It's not imitating. Whuth.
